Integrate environmental concerns into all aspects of human activity
C
orona has shown us, once again, that we as humans and guardians of planet Earth need to respect nature and protect the environment we depend on.
We need to find a balance between development and a healthy environment. The key to this is that we need to learn how to protect the astounding diversity of life (biodiversity) that enables the Earth to function and to produce the air, healthy food and resources that we need to survive.
As this may seem overwhelming, many do nothing. But change is brought about step by step.
NEWS offers activities and information that create a better understanding of nature and our precious environment.
And this understanding, step by step, helps us to have a better relationship with the planet that sustains us.
NEWS Talks
NEWS regularly invites experts, scientists, researchers and whoever has an interesting, fact-based topic to give a talk for a wide audience. Presentations are followed by Q&A, further discussions and a get together afterwards. NEWS talks are an ideal platform to share environmental issues, meet people of all walks of life and discuss matters of general concern.
NEWS Debates

NEWS is responding to issues that are of great interest to the public, such as the horse-hyaena controversy, illegal timber logging and marine phosphate mining. Such events have are attended more than 200 people, and are streamed to many more viewers on online. The horse-hyaena debate even made it to CNN!

The NEWS Funding Programme supports innovative ideas and projects in the environmental and wildlife sectors. It assists applicants in getting small, but innovative, projects started with grants of up to N$7000. Projects supported are usually either educational or research orientated and non-commercial.
